Email address rejected
A record failed because one email value is not a valid address; correct it in your source, then press "Retry all errors".
Last updated: 28 October 2026
What you see
On the Errors tab, under the object that failed, a row titled "Email address rejected". The row says how many records were not imported and lists their source record ids.
The reason under it reads: Attio validates email addresses strictly; this value isn't a valid address. The next step names your source CRM, for example: Fix the email address in HubSpot and press "Retry all errors" above.
Why it happens
Shuttio sends the email value to Attio. Attio finds it is not a valid address and refuses the write. The record fails when the email is the match key, or when Attio's error does not name the email field or quote the value. Otherwise the record imports without the email (see Left out instead of failed).
Attio rejects these:
- A space inside the address.
- A missing @.
- Several addresses in one field. Shuttio does not split them, so two addresses separated by a comma reach Attio as one value.
Spaces at either end are trimmed, so only a space inside the address fails.
How to fix it
- Note the source record ids on the row. "Download CSV" exports every failed item.
- Open each record in your source CRM. Remove the space, add the @, or keep one address in the field.
- Press "Retry all errors" on the Errors tab. It runs only the failed items again, matches records that already exist instead of duplicating them, and is free. How Retry all errors works.
If the run is paused, press Resume first, or Reconnect if the reason starts with "Reconnect".
Left out instead of failed
In this case the record imports and the Errors tab shows a row such as "3 contacts were imported without Email addresses", with the reason: It isn't a valid email address. The row lists the source record ids and the rejected values. "Retry all errors" does not write that value again. Add the correct address in Attio by hand.
If the same row returns after you corrected the values, email help@shuttio.com with the migration number from the run page's side rail.
