Duplicate unique value
A record failed because another record in Attio already holds the same value in a unique attribute; remove the duplicate in your source or in Attio, then press "Retry all errors".
Last updated: 28 October 2026
What you see
On the Errors tab, under the object that failed, a row titled "Duplicate unique value". Open the row's record list to see the source record ids that did not import. A row with three or fewer records shows the ids without a click.
The reason reads: Another record already holds this value in a unique attribute, so Attio rejected the write. The next step names your source CRM: Resolve the duplicate in <your source> and press "Retry all errors" above.
Why it happens
Shuttio sent the record to Attio. A unique attribute, such as an email address or a domain, already held that value on another record. Attio refused the write with an HTTP 409, or with an error message that does not mention a phone, email, domain or required value and contains "unique", "already exists" or "conflict". Shuttio read either as this error.
Records that link to a record that was not imported are skipped too. They appear as their own row on the same tab.
How to fix it
- Note the source record ids on the row. "Download CSV" exports every item on the tab, with the source record id in the record column.
- Remove or merge the duplicate in your source, or in Attio.
- Press "Retry all errors" on the Errors tab. It runs only the failed items again, matches records that already exist, and is free. How Retry all errors works.
If the run is paused, press Resume first, or Reconnect if the reason starts with "Reconnect".
If the same row returns after you removed the duplicate, email help@shuttio.com with the migration number from the run page's side rail.
