The free sample

A connected CRM first imports a sample: 5% of your companies, contacts or deals, 10 to 1,000 records, picked at random, with their linked records. You read the result in your destination, then decide.

A CRM migration starts as a sample: 5% of your companies, contacts or deals, 10 to 1,000 records, picked at random, with their linked records. The root objects (usually companies; contacts or deals when companies are not ticked) are picked at random, and every other object you ticked takes only the records linked to the picked ones: a company's contacts, the deals of a picked company or contact, the notes, tasks, meetings and calls on any of them. An object with more than 1,000 linked records keeps a random 1,000 and the run page says so. The same records are used every time the sample runs, retries and resumes included, and the full migration takes them in again without duplicates. The sample is free for every destination.

When it finishes, the run page says "Sample done" and tells you to check the imported records in your destination. The full migration brings the rest.

  • A sample is a real write. The records it creates, and the fields they need, exist in your destination until you roll back.
  • Lists and files move with the full migration. An object that cannot be read is named on the run page and moves with the full migration too.
  • For an Odoo import package, the sample is a package built from the same sample, which you load into Odoo to check.
  • A CSV has no sample. It imports in full, free, and you can roll it back.

If the sample looks wrong, roll it back and change the earlier steps.
